our story

Summak, deriving from the Sumac spice and the Assyrian name for red, is inspired by the rich tastes of the Lebanese culinary culture and the versatility of the Sumac spice. Our concept is to bring to our customers a full in-house cuisine of mezze and heartwarming home-cooked meals we grew up with in Lebanon as well as freshly baked breads and new mixes of the staple street food, the Man’oushe, in an informal contemporary setting.

At Summak we believe in the preciousness of seasons, and so we select produce of the day that are as close as possible to native regional fruits and vegetables grown by small producers in order to adapt our menu seasonally. In addition to our freshly-cooked daily lunch menu and the all-day Manakish, we also serve on weekends an expansive brunch buffet of some of our favorite dishes, for those eager to indulge in Lebanon’s mouth-watering cooking. 

Beyond the culinary experience, Summak thrives not only to have a positive environmental impact, but also a social one. We aim to be generous to those who need it most, through dedicated channels, and hope this philosophy inspires others to follow as it has inspired us.

We are 2 min away from the tip of the world famous Las Ramblas in the Bohemian old-town of Barcelona, called Drassanes. Centrally located, Summak is easily reachable by foot, car or public transportation (Metro green line, Drassanes) by the Maritime Museum.
